Film Review: Drag Me To Hell

FILM REVIEW: Drag Me To Hell

Films like this are why I love going to the theater.  Pure entertainment.  Sam Raimi knows how to entertain, let me tell you.  He had the audience laughing and cringing sometimes in the same scene.  It was a perfect blend of humor and horror... and you just don't see much of that anymore.  Most horror films nowadays feel like they have to be super gory to scare, like the Saw series, but it's just not true.  Torturing someone on screen in a grisly manner might have been creepy the first time, but gore can't carry a movie by itself.  Films like that don't hold a candle to Drag Me To Hell.
Horror films are fun to watch in a group of people.  They are meant to entertain us and get our blood pumping.  This film succeeds on all levels.  It feels like a throwback to the good old days of horror.  The only real issue I have is that it was shot too well... not a very good problem, but I have a soft spot for low budget horror flicks it would've been nice to have a bit of a raw edge to it.
I encourage you to check this film out.  You'll be entertained PLUS leave the theater wanting to be a better person.
I rate it 5 evil dead references
